It’s very cheap for those on a budget, however the buttons are so cheaply. Sometimes I’m worried I won’t be able to adjust the temperature as it’s non responsive most of the time.

It works great!!! Buttons aren’t ideal though… I wouldn’t purchase again because my heat feature burnt out and a replacement part is out of stock on webstaurant , and the Avantco company itself doesn’t even sell the part. I just bought this dehydrator and can’t use it because I can’t find the part any where.

We were looking for a high quality dehydrator that wasn’t made of plastic, this one is great!! All stainless steel, we have already dehydrated beef jerky, tons of fruit and veggies and even made dehydrated ramen! Love it ??

It works and hits the temps it says. That said, the buttons are very cheaply made and I expect them to break. They feel like capacitive buttons and they have a tendency to not register touch. The machine is not intended to be plugged in expect when in use. The power button flashes whenever it is plugged in and not in use which, inevitably will burn it out especially with how intensely bright the display and all the lights. If you have a shaky floor, the racks will rattle very loudly whenever someone walks so ideally, keep on a concrete floor. Overall, it is a cheap but functional dehydrator that I dont imagine will last more than a couple of years of intense use like on my farm. I wish it were made with analog controls.

For the price this can't be beat. In less than a year I've probably made 500 lbs of jerky...maybe more. Not one issue yet. Came to the site to buy another one and decided to leave a review.

I love this dehydrator! As of right now, it's only been used to proof bread and it does the job well.

I'm not one to really leave reviews online but after seeing this product receive a 1 star review from someone, I sort of felt obliged to do so. For starters, the 1 star review notes that it feels like a cheap product - I wholeheartedly disagree. The dehydrator is an all stainless steel construction, which makes clean up easy and ensures the product will last a long time. They also note that the door hinges have trouble closing -which I didn't experience at all; The door opens and closes with ease and the latch functions as intended to keep the door closed. They note that the power chord was defective - again, my power chord works as intended. My only qualm is that the chord is somewhat short but who needs 4-8ft of cable for a product that sits on the counter - I'd say it's sufficient but could be longer. To me, it sounds like the dehydrator might of been damaged in shipping for the person who left a 1 star review. Meaning, is it on Avantco or the shipper, Mary? I'd wager to say the latter. Now onto stuff that actually matters. A big issue you'll find with a lot of dehydrators is that they're simply inadequate and can't reach the temperatures they specify. Ie. they state they can reach 158F but they actually reach 120-130F. Rather, when I use dehydrators I like to ensure they're hitting the temperatures they state. To test I used a calibrated Thermoworks X4 temperature probe to measure the ambient temperature within the dehydrator. I then set the dehydrator to 176F. What this dehydrator does is power cycle (which is pretty common for electric devices featuring a heating element) and it will over and undershoot within a specified temperature. For example in my attached photos I set the dehydrator to 176F, it overshot to 178.5F before correcting and then undershot to 174.6F before correcting; Meaning it's accurate to +/- 2.5F which is great. So we have a dehydrator that's all stainless steel, and capable of reaching the temperatures it states. Show me another dehydrator with similar features at the same price point.

I purchased the Avantco 12 tray dehydrator. It has a handle on top that makes it easy to pick up and it's not too heavy for me either. It fits on my counter and comes just under my upper cabinets. It's very quiet. It has screws on the back so the fan is accessible if you need to work on it. It also has screws on the inside shelves so if you made a mess you could remove everything from the inside if necessary. I bought this unit because I liked the lower temperature (86 degrees). I've dehydrated seeds, green onions, leeks, jalapenos, habaneros, herbs, and bananas. My only complaint is that instead of going up a degree at a time, it jumps a few degrees at a time and I would just like to be able to pick a more precise temperature. Other than that, very pleased with this purchase.
