For the price this slicer is not a bad deal. If you are looking for a high quality slicer-this is really no it. There is not a lot of safety feature with this slicer as with some of the higher quality ones. For minimal amount of slicing and a low cost option-this is the best product out there.

I'm having a bit of trouble with this meat slicer. I have another one, a different brand, and this one seems to "splash up" when slicing certain things so we rest a towel on top of it. Otherwise, it works really well and for the price, it can't be beat!

So far so good. This slicer seems to work as well as the Hobart I've used in the past. It is manual, but if you are slicing most meats, especially delicate meats like roast beef, you need to be at the slicer anyway. It simply removes that temptation to set it on auto. I have a couple complaints, it could be easier to clean, but none the less, the slider comes off and the blade cover does too, so the only difficult place to clean is right behind the blade. We'll see how long it lasts. I'm sure it won't be as long as a hobart, but for this price point, it can't really be beat.

Very light weight for easy portability in the kitchen. Only small pieces of meat can be used at a time with such a small area for cutting. Great for slicing produce like tomatoes or pickles. Cleaning is a chore and difficult to get into the nooks and crannies. Blade arm moves well, but you need to anchor the slicer or it will move with you.

The slicer is excellent for small operations such as a food truck. my only complaint is the cleaning process. The unit does not tear down very easily to clean. That's ok though, the small foot print of the machine makes up for the added cleaning.

We are very happy with this deli slicer. It replaced a residential one. Our only complaint is that even though it has a 10 inch blade, the stand to hold the food feeds into the blade in the middle of the blade instead of closer to the bottom. Poor design in my opinion, but still works great

Not all that great, We doon't really use our slicer a lot so when my old Hobart broke after a liftime of use , we went with this one ... It does slice ok after getting some use to it, but it is a pain to clean. We spend more time taking it appart for cleaning than we do use it. Super flomsy feel to it too, but that is to be expected from that brand since all they make is "disposable".

The job that this does is amazing. For that portion, I give it 5 stars. But, the black plastic "pusher handle" is POORLY AND CHEAPLY manufactured. If you screw it tight on the slider tray, the little plastic threads inside the handle strip right off and the handle won't stay on. The black plastic handle screws on to a metal screw...so, plastic screwing on to metal wasn't the most brilliant design. The Webstaurant Store wanted to ship me a new plastic handle... Geez, the thing only weighs a few ounces. The shipping charges are a major rip-off. Instead, I took the old handle, along with the tray framework that the handle screws on to, down to a local metal fabrication shop. This will now last a lifetime, I got stainless steel.

Well worth the money. I have waited before writing this review and after owning the slicer for 4 years next month I feel I can give a pretty accurate review. I use this about every 6 weeks to slice roughly 100 pounds of partially frozen beef and pork, whole ribeye roasts and pork loins, so it gets a workout. Have never had one problem with it and slices great. I have sliced from almost see thru thin to 1/2" thickness. Very consistent, but keep in mind that the thickness will appear different between thawed meat and frozen. Cleaning, yes, it does take a bit of work to give it a good detailed cleaning. If you use the right tools and don't over torque the screws when putting it back together, you will never have a problem. I take the bottom tray off (5 screws) and then you can the the 2 shroud nuts off which makes cleaning so much easier. Blade screws should be Swedish torque (nicensnug), not German torque (goodntight). Well worth the 20 minute clean.

"Affordable" gravity slicers are like GREAT home-made fruit cake. Yeah, it probably exists, but darn if after 30 years of Christmas gifts I have yet to try it. Well not anymore! We bought this as a stop-gap measure until we had the capital to get a more high end model. However, this little machine works perfectly! This is one of my favorite Webstaurantstore purchases. This slicer is very sharp, and a fairly powerful motor. I use this often for basic prep and serving uses. It does a great job with roast beef and turkey and other soft meats, but can trouble getting through aged salumi. Its impossible to get a thin slice of prosciutto or capicola, both are dense cold cuts. Also, at 10" it wont fit a whole top round, but when we have large items, we just usually split them in half and they slice perfectly. Thoroughly cleaning this machine is not for the faint of heart. It doesnt break down completely and getting into the little nooks and crannies takes work. It is a significant trade off, but at this price and value, its one we are comfortable with.

Very nice, small and compact slicer. We will be using this to slice charcuterie, and I feel that it will hold up well in our small restaurant. The only negative comment is that cleaning it can be a bit difficult as there is a protective guard around the blade that catches debris easily.

It is a pretty basic slicer. It is much smaller than a typical slicer, so I would only recommend it for someone who needed to use it very infrequently. You can barely fit a turkey roll on the slicer. Other than its size it is a decent slicer. I give it only 3 stars as I think most commercial businesses would need a larger slicer. It is a bit impractical.

This Avantco meat slicer is just what I needed for slicing ham, roast beef, and bacon. I had to cut the pork belly in half in order to slice it, but clients didn't mind it one bit. Sliced the roast beef and ham really well. I like that adjusting the thickness is easy. Taking it apart for cleaning was a little difficult. All in all, a great little slicer that suits my needs just fine.

Overall, this is a good slicer. However, the backing plate got bent and we were told by the company that we must have dropped it. We literally haven't moved it since we've bought it. Kind of lame. This isn't webstaurant.com's fault of course. The knob's handle is made of plastic and will break if tightened really well.

We process a whole hog every year. Slicing bacon and ham was a nightmare to do by hand. We purchased this slicer mainly for the reasonable price, locally other 12" slicers were 3X the price. We were very happy to find quality like you see in the deli. This is able to slice super thin if wanted, and can slice as fast as you can run it. We processed 8 Lbs of bacon & ham in less than 2 hours, including vacuum sealing. It also comes with a detachable blade sharpener which is awesome. I highly recommend this slicer.

This is a great meat slicer in my small restaurant, i use 3 times a week and it makes quick work out of slicing. It has nice adjustment as i like to shave my meat super thin, and it does that well. It does make a mess with some meats sometimes, as it will shoot small pieces all over. I now just put a large cutting board behind it and it catches everything. This was a very affordable slicer that does a nice job. I would say this is probably not for heavy daily use though.

After a recommendation from a friend, I decided to have a look at the Avantco SL310 slicer to replace a cheap slicer for my home kitchen use where I slice meat 2 or 3 times a week. I wanted something durable that could slice deli thin slices or thicker as needed and something that would last me for a LONG time. I decided to give the Avantco a try and I'm glad I did. After using this slicer for several months I am convinced that it will last me for a LONG time and I am quite satisfied with it. It's durable and easy to use. In my opinion this slicer is rather easy to clean. There are two twist off knobs require to remove the slider and the blade face plate and then three phillips head screws to remove the blade. I can have it broken down in about 3 minutes or less. It takes me 5 to 8 minutes to wipe it down and remove any debris and then sanitize the parts and another two or 3 minutes to put it back together. To me, thats about as easy as it gets for cleaning something like this. I clean it completely after every use and have no issues with the time or difficulty of that process. I highly recommend this slicer!

Outstanding value for the price! Large enough to hold a brisket in the carriage and a wide range of thickness selections from paper thin to over 1/2". My only complaint is the meat guard on the back of the blade does not sufficiently match the profile of the blade to keep stray meat from being pulled behind the blade. Other than that I would not hesitate to purchase again or recommend this Avantco slicer.

After several years of using this slicer I would still highly recommend it. Blade stays sharp for extended periods of time and cleans fairly easy. Purchased this deli slicer for home use, slicing wild game summer sausage, pastrami, smoked meats, etc. First time use was exceptionally easy to operate, and clean-up is a breeze. Sliced 11-1/2 lbs of pastrami to 1/16" thickness in less than 30 minutes (including vacuum bagging). For safety, I recommend that the slicing thickness panel be moved to the zero thickness during cleaning, as the blade is incredibly sharp. Highly recommend this slicer for home and light commercial use. Definitely a 5-star value.

Posted on 12/18/2013 12:00:00 AM

For a light duty slicer, you can't beat the price. Light duty by my definition means I have to take time to clean it. A cut proof glove is a must for cleaning this thing. The cleaning kit helps with the every day wipe down, but if you slice something fatty (bacon) then you'll want to clean it down deep which takes some doing. As far as actual slicing goes, this thing definitely holds it's own. The carriage has smooth action and the slices are clean.

This is a great value and high quality compared to the slicers sold in stores (it's not plastic)! This product is excellent so far. I own a 3 service restaurant, and use the slicer frequently I was a little worried at first about the heavy use of this machine, as i had a pretty large Hobart slicer prior. It has passed the test so far. My only complaint is there is a small crevice that is nearly impossible to clean unless you get a tool to completely remove the blade. I use a decent size "pip cleaner" style brush instead.
